Servicing your HVAC Unit

Most people couldn’t imagine the world without A/C, but it is a luxury that we can take for granted. Generally, it is safe to say that most people have experienced times without AC and generally during the hottest months, ever so conveniently. But what if we were to tell you that there’s a way to prevent a fiasco like this from happening? These are not “trade secrets” or “Fix Your A/C Unit in 30 Seconds”. These are just a couple of friendly tips and tricks from your friends at A&R.

Benefits of Having your HVAC Unit Serviced

Let’s go over the benefits of having your HVAC unit serviced. It is an overlooked thought that your air conditioner consumes a large portion of your average monthly power bill, but with that said, efficient maintenance (once a year minimum) will make a significant difference. A system operating at peak efficiency can cut your monthly energy costs by up to 25%! Not only that but by having your unit serviced regularly, you can double its lifespan. If your A/C unit is not working and not providing you with cold air, it can cause an array of problems. Some of these problems are a simple fix while others are caused by more problematic internal errors from your system. The most common problem is that the Freon level in your unit is depleted. Of course, there is a simple fix, but a crucial one because a 10% loss of Freon in your unit will cost you 20% more in your electrical costs. It is also important to check your internal air filters to assure that your A/C system isn’t suffocating itself. This simple fix can lower your air conditioner’s energy consumption by 5% to 15%. Imagine the savings you could make! Some issues are best left to the professionals. For example, the air conditioner’s evaporator coil and condenser coil collect dirt over their month and years of service. Also, the clean filter prevents the evaporator coil from soiling quickly.
